“Nemo judex in causa sua” — no person shall be a judge in his own cause. Justice must not only be done, but also manifestly and undoubtedly be seen to be done — R. v. Sussex Justices, ex p. McCarthy, [1924] 1 KB 256 (Lord Hewart C.J.).
