The Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act 2005, with effect from 9 September 2005, substituted Section 6 of HSA 1956. Daughters of a coparcener in a Mitakshara joint Hindu family by birth become coparceners in their own right in the same manner as sons, with the same rights and liabilities.
